Message from the Administrator
All of us here at Seacrest Village hope everyone
had a happy and healthy holiday season. In the
first full week of December we underwent our annual
survey by the State Department of Health
and Senior Services. I am happy to say that all
went very well. Also, on December 15th, the
ground breaking ceremony was held for The Terraces
at Seacrest Village, an Assisted Living community
with a planned opening of early 2013.
For more on this please contact us and we will be
sure to provide you with information as it becomes
available. 2012 promises to be a busy year
at Seacrest Village with many new exciting opportunities.
Currently we are preparing for a change in the
Medicaid program with a shift to Managed Care
Organizations (MCO’s) being responsible for
managing the Medicaid program. Many of you
may have already seen this shift take place in the
last few months for anyone with Medicaid in the
community. Although there are many questions
yet to be answered by both the state and MCO’s,
the plan is to make this transition for the Long
Term Care population on July 1, 2012. We will
be sure to keep everyone abreast of the situation
as we receive more information over the coming
months.
We are also joining a new collaborative in South
Jersey to reduce hospital readmissions. There are
many things that can be done here at Seacrest
Village to treat certain conditions which in the
past may have required hospitalization. We are in
the process of working with our physicians to develop
the proper pathways and protocols to treat
our residents here without having to transfer
them to a hospital. This ultimately will result in
better continuity of care for our residents, as hospitalization
can cause increased weakness and a
further decline in one’s physical ability.
We will continue to update you all on these issues
as we move forward. Once again, all of us here at
Seacrest Village wish you a happy and healthy
2012.
Sincerely,
T. Brian Holloway Jr. LNHA
